ALEXANDER VERWEYEN

B2B website redesign for a training company

alexander verweyen business consultants is an international family business, now in its second generation, based in Munich and building performance programmes for sales and leadership for more than 25 years. The brief had six goals: more enquiries, better findability in search, a clean CMS, a fresher look, digital support for the handover to the next generation, and a relaunch that carries the existing 1,000-plus pages with it. This case study shows how the B2B website redesign was set up to deliver them: a brand relaunch, custom WordPress theme development, editorial work and an AI-assisted application the team uses to create new training, format and trainer pages themselves.

Overview

The portfolio runs from sales and leadership training through negotiation, presentation and telephone skills to formats such as keynotes, blended learning and AI-assisted conversation simulation. That range was the actual brief: a training provider's website has to carry several dozen training pages, formats and trainer profiles, bring order to more than 1,000 pages grown over the years, and make every new page possible without development work.

Corporate redesign and brand relaunch

The brand core was there, but years of incremental changes had worn it down and pulled it apart. In the brand relaunch we sharpened the mark, reset the typography and grew the violet into a working colour system that stretches from a pale surface tone to a saturated gradient. The diamond from the logo returns as a design motif: an accent inside running text, a shape across images, a divider between sections. The result stays recognisable even on screens where the logo itself is nowhere in view.

For a training company, the first impression decides whether a visitor credits you with expertise. The grid is strict accordingly: generous white space, clear hierarchies, photography of real training situations rather than stock imagery. Client logos, trade-press mentions and figures such as the annual number of participants sit at fixed points in the page structure, so trust signals appear in the same position on every subpage instead of being reinvented page by page.

Custom WordPress theme development

Rather than bending a purchased theme into shape, we wrote one from the ground up. The reason for custom WordPress theme development lies in how the offering is structured: training courses, training formats and trainer profiles each follow their own recurring page pattern. Those three patterns live in the theme as Gutenberg blocks, with spacing, heading levels and components already fixed. A new page is therefore assembled from parts that are correctly designed in advance, instead of starting from an empty editor.

For the editorial team this means a clean CMS where content can be maintained comfortably without losing the design or touching any HTML. Because only the intended blocks are available, the site stays consistent even after dozens of new pages. Loading speed and accessibility were part of building the theme rather than a later optimisation pass: images ship in modern formats, the navigation works from the keyboard, and contrast ratios are checked throughout.

Content Studio: AI content automation

A custom theme solves the design, not the workload. Creating a new training page still meant copying text out of a document, setting headings, building lists and sorting blocks. For that step we built the Verweyen Content Studio, an AI content automation tool wired directly into the WordPress installation.

The process has three steps. The team picks the page type: training course, training format or trainer profile. Then it pastes the complete text from Google Docs or Word. The AI-assisted creation recognises the outline, methods, process steps and FAQs, and translates them into the Gutenberg blocks of the current Verweyen template.

Before anything is saved, a rule-based page check runs: the application reads the live template from the running system, verifies that the text and structure survived intact, and renders the Gutenberg output in advance. Only then does it create the page as a draft in WordPress. Nothing is published automatically; approval stays with the editorial team.

Results of the website redesign

The relaunch moved the site from an estate that had grown page by page to a clear structure: fewer pages, each one complete, per training course, format and person. The figures below come from Google Analytics and cover all channels, not organic search alone.

Reach, conversion and enquiries

The new site works at three points at once. More people find their way to it, more of them act, and more enquiries arrive at the end. What tips the balance is less the technology than the trust: a tidy, current presence with visible client references, trade-press mentions and hard numbers takes the uncertainty out of making first contact.
