Moving away from TAIFUN
Out of the legacy system,
into the cloud
TAIFUN has grown over years and often holds the entire memory of the business: customers, equipment, maintenance contracts, jobs and documents. That is precisely what makes the switch hard. We extract that data in a structured way and bring it into your new system.
The exit in detail
View portfolioWhy businesses consider a switch
We hear the same reasons again and again. Not all of them need to apply for a comparison to be worthwhile.
- The software runs in the office but not on site
- Mobile use requires additional modules and additional cost
- Servers, updates and backups sit on your own premises
- New colleagues take a long time to find their way around it
- Reports require support or additional programs
- Annual maintenance costs rise faster than the benefit
Just as often the opposite is true: if your business needs complex costing and deep materials management, an established system can remain the right choice. We tell you honestly what we see in the first consultation, even when the answer is that you should stay.
How your data gets out
With locally installed systems the real work sits in the export. These are the routes we check, usually in this order.
Built-in export functions
The simplest route where it exists. We check which data types come out in which format and where the limits are.
Reports and analyses
Where no direct export exists, lists and reports often deliver the same content in a processable form.
Direct database access
The most complete route. It requires that you hold the credentials or can request them, and it is performed read-only on a copy.
Vendor interfaces
Some systems offer interfaces for third-party applications that can also be used for an export.
File storage
Documents, photos and PDF records often sit as files on the server and have to be reattached to the matching records.
Backups
An existing backup allows the data set to be reconstructed without touching live operations.
Which route is possible depends on your version, your licence scope and your installation. We check that during the migration check on your actual system, not on a brochure.
Clarify this before you cancel
Do not cancel the old contract before these points are settled. A deactivated login makes the migration considerably more expensive.
- Does access to the legacy system continue in read-only mode after cancellation?
- For how long and in what form will your data be available after the contract ends?
- Which export formats does the vendor provide, and does the export cost extra?
- Where do documents and record files physically reside?
- Which retention periods apply to your tax-relevant records?
- Is an audit-proof archive export possible that your tax advisor accepts?
- What is the notice period, and when does it start?
We work through these points with you during the migration check and, on request, draft the enquiry to your current vendor.
Where you can move to
The export is one half. The other is the question of which system fits your business afterwards.
